Two Million Apprenticeships in the UK, this week Business Secretary Vince Cable announced that the Government has reached it’s targets. The Business Secretary visited Oxford to meet the 2 millionth apprentice Paige McConville aged 16 who began her Advanced Apprenticeship in Engineering Manufacture at FMB Oxford.
With skills shortages in some sectors, particularly manufacturing, construction and engineering, apprenticeships are being seen to play a vital role in fighting these shortages and also youth unemployment. Engineering is central to the UK’s economic future and as the economy continues to recover the need for skilled engineers will grow, making a strong business case for engineering firms to invest in apprenticeships.
